Kate Thompson is the founder of LKN Wellness and Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Integrative Medicine and IV Hydration Therapies. In her spare time (ha!) Kate is a wife to her awesome hubs, Henry, and mother to four beautiful boys! If you happen to see her carting a bunch of blonde kids around to various sports, and music practices around Mooresville, don't be shy- say hello! She probably has snacks.

Originally from Medina, Ohio and Kate was raised on a Black Angus farm. From a very early age, she had the desire to become a nurse and care for patients in every stage of their life. Her upbringing gave her insight into natural remedies, real foods, complementary therapies, and the benefits to living a healthy lifestyle. 

 

Kate graduated from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio in 2008 and began her nursing career in the Emergency Department at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. With a desire to explore and gain diverse clinical experience, she became a travel nurse and had the privilege of practicing in emergency departments throughout the country. She and her family settled for 5 years in Houston, Texas and while working in the Emergency Department at Memorial Hermann- The Woodlands, Texas, Kate assisted with opening a pediatric emergency department. With a desire to be closer to family in 2019, she stepped away from trauma nursing, moved across the country to Charlotte, NC and began a career in urgent care while attending graduate school. 

 

Kate graduated from Spring Arbor University in 2022 with her Master’s in Science and Nursing, and began working as an integrative medicine nurse practitioner in Huntersville, NC. There she claims "my eyes were opened"! Kate gained vast clinical experience and insight into the holistic and functional medicine world! In September of 2023 Kate founded LKN IV Hydration to offer patients micronutrient support and hydration therapies. With a desire to combine her experience in integrative primary care with IV therapies, LKN Wellness was founded in February of 2024 and continues to grow!

Kate has this to share about nursing and the care provided at LKN Wellness: “When I became a nurse, I did so because I wanted to spend time with my patients and truly get to know them. People are complex, and each part of who we are affects the rest; this is where caring for people “holistically” is a necessity, not a luxury. At LKN Wellness, our model is based on building a therapeutic relationship with our patients using close communication and extended patient visits. When it comes to our health, I feel there is certainly a time and place for allopathic or modern medicine; but the more tools you have in your toolbox, the better. Many people want to uncover the root cause to their symptoms or explore more natural, complimentary, or alternative therapies. People deserve to experience real healthcare that is tailored to their needs; that is what we do here. My job is to come alongside patients and act as a guide on their journey to health! It’s an honor to be a part of their story.”
