Frequently Asked Questions

What does holistic  and integrative mean?

Holistic care focuses on the entire being. Humans are complicated and our providers examine the various facets which may be having an affect on your health such as stress, relationships, nutrition, exercise, sleep, past personal and family medical history, and current symptoms. Our integrative care approach offers patients the benefits of both traditional medicine and alternative or natural therapies. LKN Wellness offers discounted supplements, and IVs to deliver nutrients directly to the cells inside our caring and comfortable environment. When necessary your provider will collaborate and coordinate care with other healthcare professionals to optimize your healthcare experience and outcome.

What is the Direct Primary Care (DPC) model?

Direct Primary Care is an innovative alternative membership model that allows patients access to their primary care provider for a simple, flat, affordable monthly fee.  This model allows patients and providers the time they need to create a trusting and enduring therapeutic relationship.  It allows for the use of technology and telemedicine to ensure patients have access to care in whatever manner is most convenient for them.

Does LKN Wellness take insurance?

As a direct primary care clinic, we do not accept insurance. We are able so use FSA and HSA accounts as well as a payment plans with Affirm through our loyalty/rewards app! This allows us to practice unencumbered by the restrictions imposed by insurance companies, and provide the best and most comprehensive care possible.  We do partner with labs who can bill your insurance though insurance companies often will not provide coverage for functional labs.

What type of insurance is best to have with a membership plan?

The types of insurance that work best with direct primary care are high deductible plans, or  healthshares (cost-sharing communities) such as Liberty Healthshare, Crowd Heath, or Samaritan’s. This way your primary care needs are covered through LKN Wellness, and you still have coverage if you need it for imaging, labs, emergency visits, hospitalizations, specialist visits, etc.  In the case of a high deductible plan, you can choose a plan with an HSA/FSA and use that to pay the monthly fees. Some cost-sharing communities may cover part of the monthly membership fee.

How does it work when the provider goes on vacation?

Provider vacations are scheduled in advance so that patients may be given as much notice as possible, and regularly scheduled visits or non-urgent issues can be taken care of in advance.  For problems that arise that require urgent evaluation during these times, there will be a provider available for phone/video consultation.  Emergent issues will be directed to the nearest urgent care or emergency department.

Can I schedule a sick, or one-time visit?

Non-members can visit the clinic for acute care needs (sick visits) via telemedicine or in-person at a cost of $140 per visit, (necessary labs may be additional).  We also offer a once yearly, comprehensive preventative physical visit which includes standard annual labs for non-members at a cost of $360.

Do labs cost extra?

Yes and No! If you are a member, annual wellness labs are included in your monthly membership. Included labs: CBC, CMP, Hemoglobin A1C, Lipid Panel, TSH, Urinalysis, Vitamin D, + PSA or PAP. If additional Labs are deemed necessary by your provider, our partnerships allow us to offer them at deeply discounted prices. We can also bill insurance for labs.

Can I add on deep dives for gut health, food sensitivies/allergies, or hormones while being a primary care member?

Of course! We offer member exclusive pricing to deep dive into your gut health, hormones,  food sensitivities, and weight loss! Together with your provider, you will receive functional lab reports and reap the benefits of a tailored, integrative health plan.

Can I just focus on my gut health, food sensitivities/allergies, or hormones without being a primary care member?

Yes we do offer more focused packages for gut health, hormones, and weight loss. However, our body systems are closely connected and we believe treating patients holistically, through an on-going patient/provider relationship leads to better health outcomes.

Do you give vaccines?

We do not carry vaccines in our office. We can refer you to Minute Clinic, the health department, or an urgent care that administers vaccines. We can also help you make a pre and post vaccine plan to boost the immune system!

Do you prescribe regular medications?

Yes, we prescribe pharmaceutical medications when needed. Our aim is to use natural treatments whenever possible. However, we value and utilize conventional medicine when appropriate.

How do I know if LKN Wellness is the right choice for me?

We offer a complimentary 30 minute (in person or virtual) Meet and Greet! This time allows you to get to know the provider and get all of your questions answered before deciding to proceed with a membership or book an appointment. We are a relationship-based practice, and as such we want to ensure a good fit before embarking on your health journey together.
